We offer a full array of oxidation removal, from heavy wet sanding, to multiple compounds and polishes to remove that dead gel coat.

Oxidation isnt random. Its chemistry plus exposure. Gel Coat is porous, like your skin. Over time, uV rays break down the gel coats chemical compostion, and dries out and forms a dull and chalky appearance and feel.

We use the latest tools to help us measure the oxidation level on your vessel. We use a reflection meter or gloss meter to measure reflection or glosss (Shine) on your boats gelcoat. We use this tool to see the degree of oxidation, estimate level of service to achieve desired reflection (Gloss). A meter measures the amount of light reflected from a surface. It shines a beam of light at a specific angle (60 Degrees) and assigns a numerical value in Gloss units (GU's) to the reflection. Higher the number is the brighter the reflection, lower the number indicates the degree of oxidation (Dead Gel Coat) you have. BY these numbers we can accurately estimate services needed.

Below 20: Heavy deep oxidation, deep dead gel coat, will take many steps including wet sanding to remove. Neglect for many years

20-40 : Severe to medium oxidation

40-60: Medium light to to light oxidation

60-80: Healthy surface some oxidation but not to bad.

90-100: high gloss where you want to be..   

The meter will also help and track the health of your boats surface with monthly readings  over the first to gage your specific oxidation or sun damage happening . By doing this we can be ahead of any problems in the future and address them head on before they become a problem.

Florida's UV index is 7-9+, where as the northeast is 1-2. So waxing once a year in the north east works, NOT here in Florida!!!

Its important to follow a detailed schedule in order to maintain your boats protection from UV exposure. Correction removes damage. Protection prevents damage, and mainteance preserves protection. ITS CHEMISTRY AND DISCPLINE.

Traditional waxes last between 4-8 weeks max and require frequent re application, which many owners overlook.
